There are good and bad police officers in a culture of almost absolute unaccountability.

Saint Ed

America is not the same country it was decades ago. As a undisciplined teenager with little or no parental supervision, I bought a 1947 Chevrolet for fifty dollars with money earned from a paper route. It would be difficult if not impossible for a teenager to earn enough money to buy a decent automobile with no dents in it from money earned delivering papers today.

It wasn't too long before the temptation to find out what it was like to drive the car took over and I was weaving down Main Street where a police officer took notice and gave me a fatherly talk. In those days, undisciplined teenagers were rarely taken away from their family nor did he issue a citation. In those days, police officers walked the beat. People got to know them and they got to know the people.

The police were called Peace Officers in those days. They are Law Enforcement Officers now.

It is written in the Word: "THE LAW KILLS BUT THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE." The emphasis on enforcing the law rather than the Spirit of the law produces a growing police State atmosphere in America with many police officers more interested in doing whatever is necessary to be promoted rather than what ought to be done for the public good.

Applying the law legalistically without any concern for the big picture spiritually is counter productive to building public confidence and cooperation with the police and the law. The public is more inclined to NOT see criminal acivity of any kind, knowing any involvment with legalistic minded police officers could become an unprofitable entanglement for them.

The majority of believers do not realize how corrupt the police in American have become since godlessness became fashionable in America.

It came as a surprise for me in public evangelism to find law enforcement in every city from Coast to Coast opposing proclamations of the Word of God to people who normally did not object to hearing it and were often times attentive. Yet, time and time again, in city after city, authorities rudely interupted proclamations of the Word of God with threats, unlawful detainment and fabricated arrests.

It has become an unwritten law nationwide to make the gospel of Jesus Christ unwelcome outside of the churches. Free constitutional exercise of religion everywhere has been eroded by law and precedence in America to mean free exercise of religion ONLY within the churches and its institutions.

Street preachers are allowed in public, but seldom are hand held amps allowed, and effective evangelism where huge crowds are gathered spontaneously in the public are stopped by law enforcement officials everywhere in the country. Yet I remember seeing a huge crowd gathered in the streets of New York City in my youth to hear a preacher proclaim the Word of God.

This is a photograph of a public preacher who was arrested. He showed them documentation he carried proving his right to do what he was doing, but don't expect security or law enforcement in America to respect the right to proclaim Christ anywhere an excuse can be found to oppose it.

It should not matter to the authorities if traffic is stopped anywhere in a city by the spontaneous gathering of a large crowd for the well being of their souls. They should humble themselves to divert vehicles to other traffic arteries while the phenomenon takes place.

By enforcing the law legalistically they do harm to the Spirit and soul of this great nation, and make the power preacher look like a law breaker.

Were Jesus to walk the sidewalks of America today, he could expect to be jailed. When God walked in Israel in the flesh of Jesus, they were a "WICKED AND PERVERSE GENERATION." This generation is "WICKED AND PERVERSE." Is it any wonder the founders of this nation have been abandoned and the intent of the Constitution perverted?

It is important for every believer to know the country we are living in has become spiritually bankrupt. The Lord said, those who are not with him are against him. So you ought "TO COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM AND BE SEPARATE" unto God. "TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND LEAN NOT UNTO YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING."

The American government preaches freedom of religion to all the world in the name of democracy while hypocritically trampling the rights of public preachers God sends out in his Spirit. The American government endures religion as long as it is confined to a box.

We are to obey the laws of the land, but we are not to be blind concerning corruption in the government.

Human nature is corrupt. Give a corrupt man or woman a badge and a gun with authority and the natural thing will take place. The more corrupt will abuse it. And the more corrupt they are, the more than will abuse their authority to where you will find yourself looking tyranny in the eye.

America has lost its way as a Christian nation. When the Supreme Court of this nation kicked observances of God out of its institutions, the Devil and his demons rushed in to fill the void.

Now the morale ground behind the law has been pulled out from under it. Morales are no longer understood or observed by the majority of the American population. Sin is in. Wickedness is fashionable. Evil is entertaining.

It is as it was in the days of Noah, the Prophet. "THEIR IMAGINATIONS ARE ONLY EVIL CONTINUALLY."

Many of the more sinful officers in America are vulnerable to demon oppression and do not know it. They like the feeling of power.

Even the best officers are compromised by the bullishness of corrupt officers.

Evil law enforcement officers have become mobile dictators in air conditioned squad cars whose word and power are above the law they are paid huge salaries by taxpayers to enforce.

Early in my public preaching career, two law enforcement officers couldn't persuade me to leave off preaching in an area of their jurisdiction, so they handcuffed me; closed the windows and doors to one of their squad cars and let the sun roast me alive in the heat of a hot summer day.

I was booked for disturbing the peace after they tortured me with impunity, but an officer of the station more senior than them came to me in the cell and released me upon hearing the real cause of the matter.

But the worst of them all are the graveyard shift. There are officers on speed to stay awake. The drug makes them paranoid and mean. And while the public sleeps, there are few witnesses to their tyranny. When you see a squad car roaring up and down the streets of a city in the late night unnecessarily, they're on speed. You need to move on discreetly.

Let me tell you a story:

A CRAZY ENCOUNTER WITH AN OUT OF CONTROL COP:

We were staying at a hotel in the big city in a room located at the backside of it where it was exceedingly dark. We heard a pounding on the door and upon opening the curtain, an officer was seen a few feet away banging on the door with the butt of his billy club.

I called out to him, asking what we could do for him. He came over to the window and yelled, "Open the door, I can't hear you!"

Such a ploy works with those who are naive enough to trust a madman in uniform with their lives, their health, their freedom and their property. But I closed the curtain while he continued to intimidate by banging on the door loudly while I hurriedly dressed and opened the curtains so he could see there were no weapons.

The high intensity lights of his squad car were already pointed directly at the window of our room so I could not see what agency he represented, while I called 911 to see if the police department would cooperate in sending someone more sober to calm the out of control officer.

The 911 operator gave me the run around for about five minutes apparently to buy time to contact the madman through others present at department headquarters. I looked outside and he was gone from the dark night pervading the back of the hotel.

MORE EVIDENCE OF A GROWING POLICE STATE:

We are grateful to all of the police officers throughout America who risk their lives daily to protect us. Police are necessary to properly enforce the law and protect the public and we recognize the work they do for us can be very dangerous:

The trust and confidence between police and citizens is seriously handicapped due to a chronic system of non accountability for police crimes. Police in America have become the law rather than the enforcers of it.

To the police officers of America, I will echo what John the Baptist said to the Roman Soldiers who policed Israel in his days. "Be satisfied with your pay. You are well paid, why should you harm your own soul by coveting your neighbor's goods?"

To the public, there are many more things to say; since we are increasingly the victims of police mis-conduct and sometimes police brutality.

When you are confronted by a police officer, recognize their power to do wickedly. Be humble. Keep your hands out of your pockets so you do not provoke their fears. Put your arms down at your side and stand tall. "BE QUICK TO HEAR AND SLOW TO SPEAK."

Answer them discreetly. They are not inviting you to make a legal defense. They want information so they can make a decision as to what to do with you. The more wicked they are, the less patience they possess. Do not give them more information than they ask for, but look them in the eye without blinking. Don't show any fear.

Make no quick movements. Remain calm and still while they are speaking with you.

Any cover up, resistance or disobedience on your part can easily provoke their wrath. Since law enforcement officers are "EXECUTIONERS OF GOD'S WRATH" you will want to avoid speaking in the "PRIDE THAT COMES BEFORE THE FALL."

You don't have to be totally passive if you are dealing with an evil officer. You can "RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU," if you are willing to go to jail or pay exhorbitant legal fees to clear up the matter. Fear weakens any man but faith is strength.

If you are not willing or able to sustain the cost of resisting them to the face, then remain passive and humble to all they say and do. You are in the hands of God even if they do not know it.

God is the hand of man and the gun of the wicked. Had the 19 year old black teenager, Tyisha Miller in Riverside County been properly schooled on what to expect from evil law enforcement officers, she would not have tested their patience when they saw a gun by her side as she slept in her car, screaming for her to come out.

BLACK TEENAGER MURDERED BY THE POLICE:

Instead she went back to her drug induced sleep. They shot 24 bullets at her striking her 12 times, four in the head; knowing the gun in her car gave them license to say she was a threat.

Tyisha Miller had pulled into a gas station parking lot with a flat tire shortly after 1 a.m. The friend she was with left to get help while she stayed behind, locking the doors and rolling up the windows. She turned up the heat and the radio, and apparently put a pistol in her lap for protection.

When Tyisha Miller 18-year-old cousin, Anthonete Joiner, and a girlfriend arrived at the gas station they were unable to get the young woman to respond or to open the doors. Seeing foam around her mouth, and fearing she was in physical distress, they called 911 to get help from the police.

When the police arrived Miss Joiner ran over to them and said something was wrong with her cousin, that she would not wake up and a gun was on her lap.

Initially, the police said the officers fired only after Tyisha Miller shot at them. After tests showed Miss Miller's gun had not been fired, the police changed their story to say they saw her arise and reach for her gun after one of the officers broke a window. Consequently, they said, they fired to protect themselves.

Daniel Hotard, one of the officers, told investigators he broke the glass and was reaching for Miss Miller's gun, when he heard a loud, single crack of gunfire and felt its concussion near his head. Thinking he had been shot, Hotard said, he fell backward onto the pavement.

Grover Trask, the Riverside County district attorney, said that shot had come from a fellow officer. As Hotard fell to the ground, the DA said, his three partners, Officers Paul Bugar, Wayne Stewart and Michael Alagna, continued firing. Hotard, still on the ground, fired several rounds into the driver's side door.

The policemen told investigators, that after firing the first volley of bullets, they paused for several seconds, and opened fire again after the young woman moved for the weapon.

Trask said he would not file charges against the policemen, not even involuntary manslaughter, though they may have acted hastily and made mistakes in judgment they had not acted criminally. The DA said the fact the young woman was shot in the back was evidence she had indeed sat up when she was shot.

He exonerated the transgressors without every questioning the officers, and instead relied on transcripts of their interviews with police investigators. This is standard procedure in America. If the D.A. takes on one police officer he takes on the whole Department, and in doing so subjects himself to harassment, arrest and the wrecking of his political career. The D.A. took the politically correct route. The route of a coward.

His decision was immediately supported by State Attorney General Bill Lockyer who said the police actions were "unwise and ill-conceived" but not sufficient for criminal charges.

The police killing of Tyisha Miller provoked widespread anger last December and charges the four were guilty of racism, police brutality and murder.

History will continue to repeat itself until a balance of power is established nationwide, not only for blacks; but for all races. You are looking at unarmed freedom marchers under attack by white racist police officers in the 60's.

In November 1994, police suffocated Derek Hayward, a 30-year-old father of three, while taking him into custody "for his own protection" after he allegedly became delirious on drugs. It is dangerous to resist the police in any way.

In April 1996 Richard Trejo was shot and killed by police as he was fleeing a convenience store after attempting to rob it with a knife. Although the policeman said Trejo was attacking him with a knife, but the bullet wounds were in the back. The officer was not only a coward. He was guilty of murder.

In December 1996, Adam Williamson, a white 25-year-old homeless schizophrenic, was suffocated by police. It's easy to do with a billy club choke hold to the neck.

In February 1997, the Riverside Police Department suffocated Hector Islas, a young Latino man, after he fled from officers who were doing a "field identification check."

In December 1998 police shot to death David Bruner, a 35-year-old white man, while he was fleeing from a traffic stop. There were more than 20 rounds fired into the back of the vehicle.

The autopsy demonstrated he was shot after he raised his hands in surrender. Once they get started, they won't stop. There is a mob mentality when more than one police officer is involved. Whatever you do, don't do anything to get them started.

There is a growing police State in America. It will not get better. It can only get worse. If God gives you the will to go into politics in an attempt to improve upon the quality of life in America, you go ahead and do it with all your might. But don't get discouraged when you find out you are able to do very little.

We live our lives as "TALES THAT ARE TOLD." Give it all you've got and watch your life unfold before your eyes. If you live to do good, you will find it a challenge every day of your life.

Discerning spirits is important. Your discernment will not work well until you are full of the Word of God which is "A DISCERNER OF THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTS OF THE HEART." Get in the Word and live it! What are you waiting for?
